Tribes

What are tribes?

What is it about?

Tribes are a new thing at Blavicon 2019. It is a group of visitors which openly supports one of the four clans. Each tribe has several formalities such as a name, custom visuals and a warcry. Each tribe also has its own story and motives to support its given clan. It doesn’t have to fully agree with the clan; it can also interpret its politics differently. Each tribe has its own leader or „thane“. However, tribes and thanes are completely in the hands of visitors who take full charge of their activities.

How to become a tribe member?

Did you find a tribe you want to be a part of? Does your tribe even gives you some benefits? Wait for Blavicon and find your tribe leader. If you meet the tribe’s entry conditions, its thane will accept you in the tribe. As a member, you are entitled to use your common warcry, sit at the same table with other tribe members and take advantage of all benefits your tribe can offer you. However, as soon as you acquire some influence token, you should give them to your thane. They will use them to support your clan. Of course, you can keep your tokens secret and vote on your own – or give them to some other clan! Likewise, your thane can betray your tribe and vote for another clan entirely.

Tired of being a member of your tribe? Join another. Or leave all of them and play on your own. Being a tribe member gives you social benefits above all. You will be inside a large group of people with a common goal. However, you can be a member of more tribes than one, you can switch them as you wish, or leave them without fearing any consequences. Thanes should indulge you so that you stay loyal to your tribe and bring more influence tokens.

How to found a tribe?

All you need to do is to come up with a tribe and register it here on this website. Should you have any concerns or questions, contact us – we’re here to help. We will accept the registration, review it, and if there’s nothing missing, we’ll approve it (or fine-tune it if need be). After that, we will be choosing tribes based on popularity. We will determine the appropriate way based on the number of tribes. Final tribes for Blavicon 2019 will therefore be known still this year.

What do I have to do as a thane?

First come up with your tribe, then ideally recruit some followers. Only the most popular tribes will move up to be the official tribes of Blavicon 2019. At the con, you should take care of your members, recruit more, and support your clan. Or you can be an irresponsible thane and not give a damn about anything. It’s up to you. No one will be checking you or giving you tasks. This is your game!

What’s in it for the thane?

You’re wondering why you should be seeking members and influence tokens, anyway? It’s simple. As a thane, you will be given food and drinks for free for the tokens you deliver. For example, you will get a beer for ten tokens. So if you have enough active members, you will be supplied with booze and food during the entire con! Also, you will be enjoying your own game. Have it as you make it.

Will the tribe be supported by Blavicon in any way?

All advancing tribes will be supported individually with custom banners, badges etc. It all depends on the agreement between a thane and Blavicon organizers. Anyway, you don’t have to worry we wouldn’t support you.

Percival is a Polish band which plays music inspired by Vikings and Slavic traditions. Their repertoire consists of folk songs as well as their own tracks and brings the audience to early Middle Ages, to the world of our ancestors.

Above all, this is the band which was behind the recording of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt soundtrack.

Żywiołak comes from Poland and has a long musical history. They play songs of various genres, primarily in medieval-folk arrangement. Their texts are inspired by Slavic traditions. Folk elements combined with rougher tones make for a unique music mix.

Jeden kmen is a Czech project combining visual, theatrical and musical elements. You can be looking forward to dark music sung in orcish black speech. You're in for an unforgettable experience.

The Slovak band Strigoň began with playing cover versions of songs by Percival, but they have their own production today. They are greatly inspired by Slavic folk scene, Irish rhythms, medieval music and fantasy.

The band PerKelt plays so-called pagan speed folk, originally comes from Czechia, but now is an English band. Their main instruments are guitar, flute, drums and percussions. An integral part of their music is signing and speed dynamics of their songs. You can be looking forward not only to their concert on stage, but also to their performance in the inn every night!

A musical band of four members coming from the South Bohemian town of Tábor, playing historical music ranging from the 13th to the 16th century, i.e. Gothic and early Renaissance. They welcome you wherever there is a need for the rumbling drums, hooting horns, mighty tones of medieval bagpipes and pipes, squeaking hurdy-gurdy and vielle and the rhythmical attack of sistrum. The whole experience is enhanced by songs sung in original old, often long forgotten languages.

In their songs, the band Druga tells stories inspired by Czech legends and Slavic mythology. The name itself came from a free translation of the Old Slavonic word for “friendship”. The band uses this to express that music is about mutual sharing of human experiences and stories, whose essence does never changes, not even through the course of centuries, regardless of history or technological advances.
