About Us

Blavicon is an event inspired by Middle Ages and the world of the Witcher. It’s a unique project of the non-profit organization Gwint Klub, z. s., which aims to unite and support the Witcher community in the Czech Republic as well as the whole world. Blavicon is open to foreigners as well, thanks to the bilingual website and promo materials as well as the option to pay for the tickets via PayPal. This is not a traditional con or a festival, but it’s got a little from both. Here you can find board games, video games, many people in cosplay, a whole-con game, theatrical performances, as well as famous music bands.

The first year has proved that the Witcher community is an awesome bunch of people who are able and willing to have fun. It also showed that these are friendly people, so even lone wolves ended up finding a lot of new friends here. We have heard suggestions, ideas and comments by the visitors and plan to improve the second year in all regards possible. Accommodation will be offered through tents and a sport hall, food will be divided among an in-door and out-door kitchen. Plastic plates will be replaced with wooden ones lent against a refundable deposit. Disposable plastic cups will be replaced with refundable hard plastic cups with a clip-on, making them attachable to your belt. The area will be bigger, there will be more place to sit. Generally, we now aim to improve the atmosphere and experience from the whole con, which is why we came up with The Council of Kings. According to the feedback, it met the high expectations of our visitors, surpassing the already high level set by the first year.

The third year confirmed we are going in the right direction. It brought the expansion of the area, the number of people, the programme, bringing the con in general to a higher level.

In summer 2016, a club began to form, to be legally founded in November of the same year. We started as a bunch of enthusiasts who like to play Gwent. Now we have nine active clubrooms in nine towns across the Czech Republic and an e-shop with merchandise which you cannot get anywhere else. We stand behind Blavicon, but also behind other events for our members (mainly a trip to a wine cellar, water tourism on the Orlice river, Witcher gatherings for the public or a common New Year’s Eve celebration at a cabin in Orlické hory. We have also established complete rules for the physical Gwent game and overall try to support the Witcher community in all regards.
